HC Deb 06 February 1891 vol 350 cc144-5
MR. HERBERT KNATCHBULLHUGESSEN (Kent, Faversham)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War, if he can explain why, on the 28th day of January last, the public were excluded, by order of the War Department authorities at Sheerness, from a football match played in Wall Marsh, Sheerness, although the said marsh has been open to the public for many years?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (Mr. E. STANHOPE, Lincolnshire, Horncastle)

It appears that the Wall Marsh is a private recreation ground for the troops to which the public are only admitted occasionally and by special pass.
