HC Deb 03 February 1891 vol 349 c1619
SIR JOHN KINLOCH (Perth, E.)

I beg to ask the Lord Advocate whether he can give the House any information as to whether the historic Round Tower of Abernethy is one of the monuments which have come under the control of the Commissioners of Works under "The Ancient Monuments Protection Act, 1882," and in whom the estate in the same is vested; and who has the right of access to, and control of, the same, whether the heritors, the parish minister, or other individual?

THE LORD ADVOCATE (Mr. J. P. B.ROBERTSON)

The Tower of Abernethy is not one of the monuments coming under the provisions of the Act referred to. I am informed that it belongs to the Earl of Home, and kept in preservation by him, and the privileges of access to the Town Council or parish officer which now exist are granted by him.
