SMITHThe Government are doing all they can to meet the necessities disclosed by the inquiry held by the Highlands and Islands Commission; but I am unable to give a pledge that the Estimates to carry out our proposals will come up for discussion before Whitsuntide. I hope, however, it may be possible to meet the wishes of the hon. Gentleman in this respect.
