HC Deb 20 April 1891 vol 352 c919
MR. KELLY

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether Second Division clerks in the Home 'Office are paid for overtime at the uniform rate of Is. 6d per hour; and, if so, whether he will state the terms of the Treasury Minute under which such remuneration was granted; and whether he will take the necessary steps to secure uniformity of pay for overtime throughout the Public Service so far as the Second Division clerks are concerned?

MR. JACKSON

One shilling and sixpence per hour is the general rate allowed by the Treasury for Second Division clerks' overtime. There is no general Treasury Minute laying down this rule. It is, however, well known throughout the Service, and I understand that the Comptroller and Auditor General queries any payment above the recognised rate. In these circumstances, it is unnecessary for me to circulate any new rule.
