HC Deb 16 April 1891 vol 352 c670
MR. WEBSTER

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is in a position to give any information as to the alleged statement that the troops employed in the Manipur expedition were at the time of the recent disaster without an adequate or suitable supply of reserve ammunition to fit their rifles?

THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR INDIA(Sir J. GORST, Chatham)

Perhaps the hon. Gentleman will allow me to answer this question. The Secretary of State has no information as to the truth or otherwise of these statements.

MR. WEBSTER

I beg to give notice that I will call attention to the subject on the Army Estimates.
