HC Deb 21 May 1890 vol 344 c1545

Order for Second Reading read.

Motion made, and Question proposed, "That the Bill be now read a second time.

MR. CHAINING (Northamptonshire, E.)

I have not the least objection to the principle of this Bill, but my own Bill (the Agricultural Holdings Bill) covers exactly the same object as this. I should be very glad if the President of the Board of Agriculture could see his way to refer both Bills to a Select Committee.

THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF AGRICULTURE (Mr. CHAPLIN,) Lincolnshire, Sleaford

The Bill having been just circulated, I have really had no opportunity of giving it the attention which it deserves, and I cannot, therefore, undertake to grant the Committee asked for.

Second Reading deferred till Tuesday, 3rd June.
