KELLYI beg to ask the Vice President of the Council whether it is the fact, as reported in the Morning Post of the 15th instant, that the Charity Commissioners have decided on directing a poll to be taken on the question of the alienation of the Poor's Land at Bethnal Green from the purposes for which it was given?
§ *SIR W. HART DYKEThe Charity Commissioners propose shortly to republish the draft scheme already published for the Bethnal Green Poor's Land so revised as to afford an opportunity to the inhabitants of the parish of Bethnal Green of expressing their opinion on the questions raised by the first publication of the draft scheme. The draft scheme, as revised, will not involve any expenditure out of the rates; and in view of the special difficulties which this case presents the Commissioners are not prepared to re-consider the matter until the draft scheme has been so re-published. The delay in this matter has been caused by the number and importance of the 1281 representations, oral as well as written, which have been made to the Commissioners as the result of the original publication of the draft scheme, and by the difficulty which the Commissioners have experienced in coming to a conclusion upon the conflicting opinions thus presented to them.
