HC Deb 01 May 1890 vol 343 cc1823-4
MR. MACLURE (Lancashire, S.E., Stretford)

I beg to ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer when he will submit to the House, in a definite form, his proposals for placing lodging houses on an equality with hotels as regards assessment to Inhabited House Duty, and from what date this alteration in the incidence of the duty is to take effect?

*MR. GOSCHEN

The new proposals as regards lodging houses are contained generally in the Customs and Inland Revenue Bill. The Inland Revenue Department will lose no time in framing such Regulations as may be necessary to give effect to these proposals, and they will be known long before the next assessment of the Inhabited House Duty takes place.
