HC Deb 28 March 1890 vol 343 c175
MR. LENG (Dundee)

I beg to ask the Lord Advocate whether, seeing that the Representatives of Scotland in this House on Tuesday week, in the proportion of nearly seven to one, voted in favour of entrusting to the County Councils the duty of maintaining and protecting rights of way in Scotland, the Government will bring in a Bill to give effect to the clearly expressed wishes of the Scottish people on this subject?

*THE LORD ADVOCATE (Mr. J. P. B. ROBERTSON,) Bute

The Government have given their attention to this subject, with every desire to meet the wishes of hon. Members. While in the present state of public business the Government are not prepared to propose legislation, they will be ready to give their candid consideration to any Bill which may be introduced by a private Member.
