HC Deb 07 March 1890 vol 342 c260
DR. FARQUHARSON (Aberdeenshire, W.)

I wish to ask the First Lord of the Treasury when the Army Estimates will be taken, and what the business of the House will be next week?

When does the right hon. Gentleman expect to take the Tithes Bill? It is down for Monday, but, of course, it cannot come on then.

* THE FIRST LORD OF THE TRFASURY (Mr. W. H. SMITH,) Strand, Westminster

I shall be able to give the hon. Member for Leicester (Mr. Picton) a definite answer, if he can tell me when the Estimates which are required for the year will be agreed to. It will be impossible to take the Tithes Bill until the Votes are passed. The Army Estimates will be taken on Thursday next, and the Navy Es[...] on the following Monday. I true the Debate on the Report of the[...]al Commission will conclude on M[...] and I think it will be for the goal convenience of the House if I mo e to suspend the Twelve o'clock Rule for that night only.

Mr. J. MORLEY (Newcastle-upon-Tyne)

What facilities does the right hon. Gentleman intend to give for the discussion of the Motion of my right hon. Friend the Member for Mid Lothian (Mr. Gladstone), relating to the ruling of the Chairman in Committee of Supply last Friday?

The right hon. Gentleman must understand that the Army and Navy Votes and the Vote on Account must be taken before the end of the financial year. When these Votes are disposed of, I shall be glad to put myself in communication with right hon. Gentlemen opposite with a view to fixing a day for the discussion of the Motion of the right hon. Gentleman the Member for Mid Lothian.
