HC Deb 27 June 1890 vol 346 c217
DR. KENNY (Cork, S.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he can state how near to the doors of the Clare Infirmary the police stationed themselves, or wore stationed by the officer commanding them, in order to watch the movements of the two hon. Members for Clare on the occasion last year on which the hon. Members attended at the Infirmary for the purpose of fulfilling their duties as Governors of the Institution; and whether the "shadowing" which was practised on that occasion had his sanction?

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

The Constabulary Authorities report that on the occasion in question the police were not stationed at any particular place; nor did they approach the door of the Infirmary nearer than about 100 yards.
