JOHNSTON (Belfast, S.)I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for India whether the Government of India would grant a Commission to inquire into the whole question of the Salt Tax in Orissa, and the effects resulting from the administration of the tax being placed under the Madras Authorities; and whether he will lay upon the Table of the House a Report from the Bengal officials concerning the present manner of levying the tax and its result on the population?
