HC Deb 19 June 1890 vol 345 c1352
MR. MAURICE HEALY (Cork)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether, in view of his previous declarations on the subject, he will use his influence with political friends to prevent the progress of the Drainage and Improvement of Land (Ireland) Bill being prevented by them?

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

It is a fact that, so far as I am concerned, so far as the Irish Government are concerned, we view with approval the Bill brought in by the hon. Member. I have no power to do what he suggests, but I do what I can by making this specific declaration in favour of the Bill.
