HC Deb 18 February 1890 vol 341 cc569-70
MR. BOORD (Greenwich)

I beg to ask the Postmaster General, whether it is correct that all Postal Telegraph Offices are open on Sunday from 9 to 10 a.m.; others, in addition, from 5 to 6 p.m.; whilst a limited number are open all Sunday; and whether it will be possible in future issues of the Postal Guide to indicate the hours at which the different offices are open on Sunday?

THE POSTMASTER GENERAL (Mr. RAIKES,) University of Cambridge

As a general rule all head post-offices and sub post-offices at which telegraph business is transacted are open on Sundays, either from 8 to 10 a.m. or from 9 to 10 a.m. Some are open on Sundays from 5 to 6 p.m. in addition to the morning attendance, and a certain number of important offices are open throughout the day. As a rule, town receiving offices are not open at all on Sundays. Within the limits of the Post Office Guide it would be difficult to give full information regarding the hours of attendance at every office. A consider- able amount of information is, however, already given at pages 312, 313, and!' 314 of the Guide; and I shall be glad to consider whether room can be found for further information of the kind indicated by the hon. Member.
