HC Deb 08 December 1890 vol 349 cc695-6
MR. BRADLAUGH (Northampton)

I wish to ask the First Lord of the Treasury, in reference to an answer which was given by the Under Secretary for India on Friday, and the undertaking which he gave on the 22nd of July last, whether he can now state that anything has been done in pursuance of that undertaking?

THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY (Mr. W. H. SMITH, Strand, West minster)

The hon. Gentleman is fully entitled to ask this question. The Government have taken steps to bring about a settlement, and they have every reason to believe that a conclusion will be arrived at before the re-assembling of Parliament.
