HC Deb 05 December 1890 vol 349 cc653-4
MR. BRYCE (Aberdeen, S.)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he can give the House any information with regard to the reported collision between the police of the British Chartered South Africa Company and certain Portuguese in Mutaca's country, in South-East Africa?

SIR J. FERGUSSON

A telegram has been received from the High Commissioner substantially confirming the reports which have appeared in the newspapers. Of course, there has not been time for Her Majesty's Government to consider the matter as yet.

MR. BRYCE

When will the right hon. Gentleman be able to make a state- ment? Will it be before the end of the present Sittings of the House?

SIR J. FERGUSSON

If the hon. Gentleman will put down a question I will answer it to the best of my power.
