HC Deb 05 December 1890 vol 349 c652
SIR GEORGE CAMPBELL (Kirkcaldy, &c.)

I beg to ask the First Commissioner of Works whether, considering that the public are now deprived of the use of the Great Natural History Museum, not only in the afternoons and evenings but also on foggy winter days, and that the facilities of lighting are now such that the Museum has already been temporarily lighted by electricity for Societies meeting there, he will again consider the advisability of arranging to light the Museum?

MR. PLUNKET

The Trustees of the British Museum must determine this question in conjunction, with the Treasury. I have no authority in the matter.

SIR G. CAMPBELL

May I ask whether the right hon. Gentleman will have to ask Parliament to sanction the necessary funds?

MR. PLUNKET

That is a question for the Treasury.

SIR G. CAMPBELL

repeated his question to the Secretary to the Treasury, but received no answer.
