HC Deb 15 August 1890 vol 348 c1142
DR. CAMERON

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether it is true, as stated in a Times telegram of the 13th instant, that the terms of a Convention between Great Britain and Portugal had been definitely agreed on, and that it was to be signed in London on the following day; and, if so, whether he is in a position to communicate to the House the substance of the Convention?

SIR J. FERGUSSON

An Agreement is under consideration, but has not yet been signed, and I am not able to communicate the terms of it to the House.

DR. CAMERON

Will the right hon. Gentleman be in a position to communicate the Agreement before the House rises?

SIR J. FERGUSSON

I cannot say, but I hope and trust that we are on the eve of a satisfactory and honourable settlement,
