HC Deb 11 August 1890 vol 348 c496
MR. COBB (Warwick, S.E., Rugby)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will be willing to grant a Return showing the names of the Magistrates on every County Bench, the number of days upon which each Bench has sat in each of the years 1887, 1888, and 1889, and the number of attendances of each Magistrate in each of such years; and whether the information can be collected in the Recess, so that the Return may be made at the beginning of next Session?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. MATTHEWS, Birmingham, E.)

Part of the information sought for by the hon. Member will be found in Return 356 of 1888. That Return was obtained only at the cost of a great deal of labour and annoyance to many excellent Magistrates. I should not be prepared to continue it, or to seek to obtain the additional particulars asked for in the question.
