§ MR. DALTON (for Mr. WILLIAM CORBET, Wicklow, E.)I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland has the inquiry promised into the death of Christopher O'Connor, a patient in the Richmond District Lunatic Asylum, been held; and, if so, what is the result; has the verdict of the Coroner's Jury, who found that death was caused by violence, been upheld; has anyone been punished in connection with the case; and, if not, what steps will be taken to bring the guilt home to whoever inflicted the 1759 injuries; and what condensation will be given to the widow and orphans?
§ MR. MADDENMy answer to the first two paragraphs is in the affirmative. The services of an attendant accused of having inflicted the injuries have been dispensed with by the Board of Governors, and the Papers in the entire case have been submitted by the Inspectors of Lunatic Asylums for the consideration of the Executive Government.
