HC Deb 25 April 1890 vol 343 c1458

Order for Committee read. Motion made, and Question proposed "That Mr. Deputy Speaker do now leave the Chair."—(Mr. Johnston.)

DR. TANNER

I object.

*MR. JOHNSTON (Belfast, S.)

I hope the hon. Member will not persist in objecting to a Bill which has been introduced by the hon. Member for Kilkenny, and is designed to do justice to a number of deserving public servants in Ireland, many of whom are Roman Catholics. The Bill has the approval of both sides of the House. It formerly went up to the House of Lords, and was only dropped by inadvertence.

MR. SEXTON (Belfast, W.)

I am informed that there are several points in the Bill that require further time for consideration.

Committee deferred to Monday.
