HC Deb 29 May 1889 vol 336 cc1387-8

Resolution reported. (See p. 1274.)

Question proposed, "That the House agree with the Committee in the said Resolution."

MR. T. M. HEALY (Longford, N.)

I wish to ask the Secretary to the Treasury to allow this Vote to stand over until to-morrow, as I wish to raise a question with regard to it. At the request of the right hon. Gentleman the Member for Mid Lothian the Vote was agreed to yesterday without discussion. The point I wish to raise is as to the power of the Home Secretary to ask the Special Commissioners to dine in this House and meet one of the persons engaged in getting up the forgeries which have been investigated before those Judges. If the Home Secretary had been present I would have raised it now.

MR. JACKSON

If the hon. Gentleman presses his objection I will postpone the Report, but it must be clearly understood the Vote must be disposed of not later than to-morrow.

MR. COURTNEY (Cornwall, Bodmin)

I may point out that the Home Secretary's Vote has been taken, and that there is no sum included in the Vote on Account upon which the hon. Gentleman can raise the question he desires to discuss.

MR. T. M. HEALY

In that case I will withdraw my objection.

Resolution agreed to.
