§ MR. CHANNING (Northamptonshire, E.)asked the under Secretary for the Home Department whether he was now in a position to state when the Return, ordered on the 20th of June 1887, of the property and revenues of the Church of England and the Ecclesiastical Commissioners under the several heads specified in the Address moved on that day, would be presented to the House.
§ * THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. STUART-WORTLEY,) Sheffield, HallamI fear that I can give no hope that it will be possible to present this Return to Parliament in a proper form this Session, even if it were possible that it might be presented in a more or less imperfect and unrevised form. I would suggest that the hon. Member should repeat this question later in the Session, and in the meantime communicate with the Ecclesiastical Commissioners, who, as I am informed, are willing to give him particulars as to the precise state to which the work has advanced.
§ MR. CHANNINGfurther asked whether the hon. Gentleman had ascertained whether it would be possible to issue a separate Return as to the Metropolitan area?
§ MR. STUART-WORTLEYI will make inquiry.
