HC Deb 27 June 1889 vol 337 c875
MR. BRYCE (Aberdeen, S.)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for India, whether he can now state what progress has been made in the consideration of the recent Report of the Indian Public Service Commission; and, in particular, when it is likely that the decision of Her Majesty's Government regarding the age at which candidates are to be admitted to compete for appointments in the Indian Civil Service will be announced?

* THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR INDIA (Sir J. GORST,) Chatham

The matters referred to in the question are still under the consideration, but the Secretary of State hopes to be able shortly to announce some definite decision on the age limit.

MR. BRYCE

Will the decision be announced before the end of the Session?

* SIR J. GORST

Yes, I think so.
