HC Deb 17 June 1889 vol 337 c14
MR. BRADLAUGH (Northampton)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether he can yet state to the House the result of his consideration of the differing rates of commutation of pensions for private soldiers as compared with the rate at which Commissioned Officers can commute?

* THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (Mr. E. STANHOPE,) Lincolnshire, Horncastle

said he regretted that he was not yet in a position to inform the House as to the result of the inquiry. Negotiations were still going on with the Treasury, and he would do his utmost to push it forward, so that, at any rate, during the present Session, he might be able to intimate to the House that there has been a settlement of the question.
