HC Deb 29 July 1889 vol 338 c1581
MR. BRADLAUGH (Northampton)

May I ask the First Lord of the Treasury, as we are now approaching the end of the Session, when the Indian Budget will be taken?

* THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY (Mr. W. H. SMITH,) Strand, Westminster

I am very glad, indeed, to have an assurance from the hon. Member that we are approaching the end of the Session. I am afraid, however, that I cannot now state when the Indian Budget will be brought forward. Certain measures must be passed and further progress made with Supply before the Indian Budget can be taken.

MR. BRADLAUGH

Is it possible for two days' notice to be given of the Indian Budget?

* MR. W. H. SMITH

Without entering into an absolute pledge—the difficulty of doing which at this period of the Session the hon. Member is aware of—I will endeavour to give the notice which he desires.
