HC Deb 23 July 1889 vol 338 c1098
SIR ALBERT ROLLIT (Islington, S.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, having regard to the satisfactory results of the electric police signal system which has been in operation in Islington, the Government propose to take steps with a view to its general adoption?

MR. MATTHEWS

The question of the adoption of this system is now under my consideration. I am making inquiries as to the probable cost of any practicable scheme. Until this is ascertained I cannot say definitely whether the system is one that can be used with advantage either generally throughout the Metropolis or in particular districts.
