HC Deb 19 July 1889 vol 338 c849
MR. STAVELEY HILL (Staffordshire, Kingswinford)

I beg to ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether it is intended, by Clause 15 of the Revenue Bill, to abolish the Sixpenny Stamp Duty, now payable on a contract for the purchase of land, and to substitute for such stamp an ad valorem duty upon such contracts?

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER (Mr. GOSCHEN,) St. George's, Hanover Square

There is no intention of imposing any additional burden.
