HC Deb 11 July 1889 vol 338 cc124-5
MR. COX (Clare, E.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether it is a fact that an emergency man is in possession of a farm on the estate of the late Henry Gonne Maloney, at Cahir Murphy, county Clare, and refuses to give up possession to the heir at law or his agent; and, whether the emergency man is guarded by three members of the Royal Irish Constabulary; and, if so, by what right, or by whose authority, does he remain in possession of the farm?

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

The late owner died in 1888, and there is, I understand, a lawsuit pending as to the right of ownership. The man referred to is in possession pending the decision of the case.
