HC Deb 09 July 1889 vol 337 cc1813-4
MAJOR RASCH (Essex, S.E.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether, in view of the fact that two weeks have elapsed since serious charges of incompetence were brought against the Contracting Department of the War Office, to which no reply has been given, he will bring forward the remaining Vote of the Army Estimates at an early date, when they may be admitted or disproved?

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (Mr. E. STANHOPE,) Lincolnshire, Horncastle

This question is one which should be addressed to the First Lord of the Treasury; but, judging by the pledges already given as to Government business, there appears to me to be no prospect of resuming this discussion at present.

MR. HANBURY (Preston)

In consequence of the answer of the right hon. Gentleman, I shall put all the charges which have been brought in the shape of a series of questions, so that I may receive a definite "Yes" or "No" without further delay.
