HC Deb 02 July 1889 vol 337 c1254
CAPTAIN PRICE (Devonport)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies whether, in the event of the Government of Jamaica having to take back the railway from the purchasing Company, the three and a half per cent Government Stock to be given to the bondholders in exchange for their mortgage bonds will be chargeable on the general revenues of the Colony, or contingent only on the profits of the railway?

THE UNDER SECRETARY of STATE FOR THE COLONIES (Baron H. de WORMS, Liverpool, East Toxteth)

The Government stock will be charge-ble on the general revenues of the Colony, and not contingent only on the profits of the railway.
