HC Deb 28 February 1889 vol 333 c602
MR. CONYBEARE (Cornwall, Camborne)

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, if he is aware that the clerk to the Registrar of the Stowmarket County Court has not yet been appointed by Sir Francis Roxburgh, the County County Judge, to administer oaths under Section 83 of the Act of last Session; and if he will see that the Judge forthwith nominates suitable persons in every district to administer oaths in the absence of the Registrars?

MR. MATTHEWS

I am informed by the Lord Chancellor that he does not know whether the Judge has, or has not, made any such appointment; that the matter is left by the Act entirely within the discretion of the Judge, and does not appear to be intended as a provision for the absence of the Registrar. Any complaint on the matter should be addressed directly to the Judge.
