HC Deb 25 February 1889 vol 333 c269

On Motion of Mr. Attorney General, Bill to prevent the disclosure of Official documents and information, ordered to be brought in by Mr. Attorney General, Mr. Secretary Stanhope, and Lord George Hamilton.

Bill presented, and read first time. [Bill 97.]

MR. SEXTON

I wish to ask a Question concerning the Bill, and with regard to the scope of the Bill—namely, whether it will prevent the disclosure of documents and information in the possession of the Government to either of the litigants in any case in which a Law Officer of the Grown—the Attorney General—holds a brief for one of the parties.

THE ATTORNEY GENERAL

At the proper time I will make an explanation.
