HC Deb 27 August 1889 vol 340 c599
MR. SEXTON

Will the Government inquire into the question of the jurisdiction exercised by the Resident Magistrates in Ireland under the Statute of Edward III.? The Lord Chief Baron of Ireland has described this jurisdiction as an anomaly, inasmuch as no opportunity is given of showing cause against an order made under the Statutes.

MR. GOSCHEN

I will communicate the question to the First Lord of the Treasury; but I can give no pledge upon the subject myself.
