HC Deb 08 August 1889 vol 339 c793
MR. O'HANLON (Cavan, East)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he has read an account in the Cavan Celt, of a meeting having been held in Bailie borough to urge on the Government the importance of constructing a line of railway between Kells and Clones viâ Mullagh and Bailie borough; and whether the Government are prepared to give any pledge that this large district will be opened up in this way within the near future?

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

I have not seen the newspaper report referred to. But as the Light Railways (Ireland) Bill is general in its terms and does not deal with any particular line, its application to particular districts which may be decided to come under its provisions will be matter for consideration after the Bill becomes law.
