§ MR. A. J. BALFOUROne of the Inspectors of Lunatics in Ireland has retired on superannuation. The question as to the necessity of filling the vacancy is under consideration. There is no foundation for the rumour that it is in contemplation to appoint one of the Scotch Assistant Commissioners of Lunacy to an administrative position in the Irish Lunacy Service.
