HC Deb 01 August 1889 vol 339 c74
MR. JORDAN (Clare, W.)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether, in pursuance of a promise in a letter from the Treasury of the 1st January, 1889, in reply to a memorial of the 13th December, 1888, anything has yet been done to improve the fishing harbour of Seafield, Miltown Malbay, County Clare; and, if so, what?

MR. JACKSON

Sir, there is, I think, some misapprehension, as I cannot find that the Treasury made any promise to improve the harbour at Seafield. The Treasury letter stated only that the claims of Seafield would be considered with those of other places in the allocation if any surplus from the Fishery Piers Fund. There is no surplus yet available, and, therefore, the numerous applications which have been received could hardly usefully be considered at present.
