HC Deb 01 August 1889 vol 339 cc69-70
MR. ROWNTREE (Scarborough)

I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board if he can state what course it is proposed to take with regard to the matters dealt with by the Government Departments (Transfer of Powers) Provisional Order Bill in the next Session?

* THE PRESIDENT OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. RITCHIE,) Tower Hamlets, St. George's

As the hon. Gentleman knows, after the Report of the Select Committee the Bill was deferred because it was manifestly impossible for the Government to proceed with the measure this Session. I am not at present prepared to state what course the Government will take next Session.

MR. T. E. ELLIS (Merionethshire)

When will the evidence taken by the Committee be published?

* MR. RITCHIE

I have not the smallest idea. It is a matter with which I have no concern whatever.
