HC Deb 16 April 1889 vol 335 c619
MR. J. O'CONNOR

asked the Chief Secretary, in view of the fact that the Judge Advocate General had quashed a sentence passed by a court martial upon a constable charged with committing an assault in police barracks, county Tipperary, whether he would make an inquiry into the sentence passed upon civilians by civil Courts for offences arising out of the same incident; and whether he would, if the circumstances were the same, give instructions that the civil sentences should also be quashed?

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

I shall be glad to make any inquiries that may be necessary; but I cannot answer the latter part of the hon. Member's quesoffhand.
