HC Deb 15 April 1889 vol 335 c483
MR. KING

asked the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies, whether the Return which he promised to endeavour to obtain from the Government of Western Australia of the names of holders of land; whether persons or syndicates in that Colony has yet been received; and, if not, what explanation can be given of the delay; and, if so, whether he will present the Returns to Parliament?

THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE COLONIES (Baron H. de WORMS, Liverpool, Toxteth)

If my hon. Friend will refer to the answer which I gave in the House on the 28th February, 1888, as reported in Hansard, he will see that the offer which I made was to procure the Returns in the event of a proposal being made to Parliament for legislation on the subject of his question—a contingency which has not at present arisen. When the Western Australia Responsible Government Bill comes before Parliament, these Returns, as far as they can be furnished, will be presented.
