asked the Under Secretary of State for India, Whether it is true that the Indian Government contemplate the annexation of some of the Shan States on the eastern side of the Salween River?

(who replied) said: Her Majesty's Government, as the successor of the late Government of Ava, have retained the control of some small trans-Salween States which were subject to Burmah at the time of the recent annexation.
