HC Deb 04 May 1888 vol 325 cc1358-9
SIR RICHARD TEMPLE (Worcester, Evesham)

asked the Under Secretary of State for India, Whether the Port Trust of Aden has been, or will be, empowered to dredge the inner harbour for shipping, under cover of the new forts, by means of money to be raised on security offered by the Port?

THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE (Sir JOHN GORST) (Chatham)

The establishment of a Port Trust for Aden has been for some time under the consideration of the Government of India; but no intimation has yet been received that the question is settled, or a Port Trust in existence. Dredging is going on meanwhile under the orders of the Government of Bombay.
