said, if the House would allow the introduction of this Bill, having for its object the repair of Westminster Abbey, he proposed to defer a statement until the second reading stage. He would, however, just state for the information of hon. Members that the Bill would involve no charge upon the taxpayers.

Motion made, and Question, That leave be given to bring in a Bill to make further provision for the restoration and repair of Westminster Abbey,"—(Mr. William Henry Smith,) —put, and agreed to.
