HC Deb 08 March 1888 vol 323 c567
MR. J. W. BARCLAY (Forfarshire)

asked Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, If he will be good enough to consider whether it might be for the benefit of the Revenue, as well as a convenience to many of the less wealthy classes, to provide for granting gun licences for short periods at a reduced rate, corresponding to the system in force with respect to licences for shooting game?

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER (Mr. GOSCHEN) (St. George's, Hanover Square)

I am afraid it is impossible for me to answer such Questions as that of the hon. Member just before the Budget. All suggestions coming from him, or from other quarters, are fairly considered by me; but the hon. Member must not take this declaration as either an acceptance or a rejection of his present proposal.
