HC Deb 11 June 1888 vol 326 c1704
MR. MARUM (Kilkenny, N.)

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Whether his attention has been called to the very onerous duties of the poor's rate collectors of Ireland in reference to the Franchise Act, especially the preparation of the large number of franchise forms necessary, and the service of the same involving much time and labour, and for which they allege the remuneration at present given is wholly inadequate; and, whether he will make inquiry in reference thereto with a view of equitable adjustment of their claims?

THE CHIEF SECRETARY (Mr. A. J. BALFOUR) (Manchester, E.)

As I have already explained, in reply to a similar Question, it is impossible for me to add anything to the answer given on this subject upon the 12th of March last.
