HC Deb 11 June 1888 vol 326 c1685
MR. JOHNSTON (Belfast, S.)

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, If it is intended to propose a renewal of the grant for the improvement of the breeds of horses and cattle in Ireland; and, if so, whether he will favourably consider the claims of the North East Agricultural Association of Ireland meeting in Belfast to a share of this grant?

THE CHIEF SECRETARY (Mr. A. J. BALFOUR) (Manchester, E.)

I would beg to refer the hon. Member to my reply of April 20 on the general subject as to the renewal of the grant. With regard to the concluding portion of the Question, I apprehend that were the grant renewed its administration would be again entrusted to the Royal Dublin Society, who would, of course, have due regard to the claims of all parts of the country.
