HC Deb 11 June 1888 vol 326 c1700
DR. CLARK (Caithness)

asked the Lord Advocate, Whether it is the case that correspondence has taken place between the Secretary for Scotland and several Inspectors of Poor in Caithness regarding the relation between evictions and pauperism; and, whether a copy of the correspondence will be laid upon the Table of the House?

THE LORD ADVOCATE (Mr. J. H. A. MACDONALD) (Edinburgh and St. Andrew's Universities)

No, Sir; I am informed that there has been no such correspondence.

DR. CLARK

repeated his Question.

MR. J. H. A. MACDONALD

I have given the answer supplied to me, and I have no information on the subject.

DR. CLARK

asked if the Lord Advocate would make inquiries on the subject, as a number of Inspectors of Poor had received letters purporting to be from the Marquess of Lothian, and must be disgusted unless this was some mistake.

[No reply.]
