HC Deb 30 July 1888 vol 329 cc766-7
COLONEL SAUNDERSON (Armagh, N.)

I beg to ask the right hon. Gentleman the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland a Question of which. I have given him private Notice. It is this—Whether he can inform the House as to the truth of the report which appears in The Pall Mall Gazette and other papers to the effect that an aged man named John Foran was murdered last Saturday evening between Tralee and Listowel; and whether he is aware of the fact, as stated, that this John Foran has for some time past been boycotted and under police protection?

THE CHIEF SECRETARY (Mr. A. J. BALFOUR) (Manchester, E.)

In an- swer to my hon. and gallant Friend, I have to say that I am afraid I cannot give any information on the subject of the Question. I have not received any intimation of the fact to which he refers; but if my hon. and gallant Friend will put a Question on the Paper I shall be happy to answer it.

COLONEL SAUNDERSON

I will ask the Question to-morrow.
