§ DR. TANNER (Cork Co., Mid)asked Mr. Solicitor General for Ireland, Whe- 1405 ther it is the case that in a Schedule issued by the Irish Land Commission 31st May, 1888, substituted for the form of Schedule annexed to the Order of the 20th May, 1887, it is laid down that particulars of holding are to be filled in and signed by the Lay Assistant Commissioners "after inspection;" and, whether such particulars have ever been in the past so filled in and signed without inspection?
§ THE CHIEF SECRETARY FOR IRELAND (Mr. A. J. BALFOUR) (Manchester, E.)(who replied) said: The Laud Commissioners inform me that it is laid down in both the Schedule of the 20th of May, 1887, and in the substituted Schedule of this year, that the particulars of the holding are to be filled in and signed by the Lay Assistant Commissioners after inspection. In the Schedule in use before the 20th of May, 1887, there was no such direction; and it has then happened that the particulars stated in the form were those deposed to in Court before inspection.
§ DR. TANNERsaid, the right hon. Gentleman had not answered the last portion of the Question—whether such particulars had been filled in without inspection?
§ MR. A. J. BALFOURsaid, that as he understood before 1887, and before the adoption of the particular Rule to which allusion had been made, they did occasionally fill in such particulars without inspection.
