DR. TANNER (Cork Co., Mid)

Mr. Speaker—

MR. SPEAKER

Order, order! The hon. Member has already spoken.

DR. TANNER

I only want to ask a question. I did not hear what the Clerk said, and I was going to ask your ruling as to what subject we may—

MR. SPEAKER

Order, order! The hon. Gentleman has already spoken.

Question put.

The House divided:—Ayes 142; Noes 28: Majority 114.—(Div. List, No. 212.)

Subsequent Resolutions read a second time.

MR. FLYNN (Cork, N.)

said, the accounts given with this Vote were in a most unsatisfactory form. The Estimate had been reduced from that of last year, as six or seven, out of the 13 clerks mentioned in it, were to be retired. To all lovers of economy it was of course a gratifying circumstance that the Vote had been reduced, but he wanted to know from the responsible Authorities how much the apparent decrease would cost in the way of increased pensions?

THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF TRADE (Sir MICHAEL HICKS-BEACH) (Bristol, W.)

I rise to Order. The matter to which the hon. Gentleman is referring is the re-organization of the Department of the Board of Trade, whereas the Vote before the House is that respecting bankruptcy expenses.

Subsequent Resolutions agreed to.
